Norwegian courses: our principles
No matter which Norwegian course you choose: we stick to a few basic principles, which you will quickly find out if you download a preview of our Norwegian textbook, for example.
- Learning Norwegian should be fun. Contrary to the usual language school marketing poetry, we don’t even try to talk you into nonsense like “learn Norwegian in three months”. Learning a language is hard work, but why should hard work not be fun? That’s why our Norwegian courses are based on a coherent story.
- We put a lot of emphasis on pronunciation. In our Norwegian online course you’ll get plenty of tips on practicing proper pronunciation. There are also free pronunciation videos for our Norwegian textbook. For more help with pronunciation you should consider working with a teacher.
- Grammar is a tool – nothing more, but nothing less. We won’t drown you in grammar rules before you can even say your first complete sentence in Norwegian. But we don’t have a grammar phobia either (and if you do, we’ll train you out of it …).
Meet our main character: Nils
Nils is a doll inspired by the traditional Norwegian mythical creature „Nisse“. He was made by Erna Langvik, an elderly lady, as a birthday present to her eight year old granddaughter. Nils leads a happy life with his new family in Oslo.
But due to an accident, he finds out that he means a lot more to Erna than just being a birthday present. Without knowing it, he has been carrying a painful secret, and during an adventurous trip to Northern Norway, he helps Erna to make one of the most important decisions of her life.
My best tips for learning Norwegian – for free
Don’t worry, I’m not going to share nonsense about how you can learn Norwegian in your sleep, at no cost, and achieve fluency by next Friday.
I know that learning Norwegian is hard work – I have learned four languages myself (English, Norwegian, French, and Czech).
In addition to my personal experience, I’ve helped countless language students in my over 10 years of work in this field.
Let me share with you my strategies for what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to learning Norwegian.
